About the Opportunity
The Communications Summer Intern will play a vital role in our digital presence by creating engaging content for social media, website, and newsletters while contributing to design elements across these platforms. This dynamic position involves analyzing digital metrics to optimize strategy, researching industry events, collaboratively sharing ideas, and managing digital assets. The Summer Intern will report to the Manager, Communications.
The main responsibilities of the job include:
- Create social media, website, and newsletter content.
- Contribute to newsletter and social media design.
- Analyze and help report on website and social media metrics to optimize digital strategy.
- Research and track industry-relevant conferences and events.
- Share big ideas in brainstorms and with teams.
- Assist with the management of digital assets, such as photos and videos captured by staff, partners, and grantees.
- Deliver a final presentation to the Communications team.
About the Successful Candidate
Open to current undergraduate or graduate students in social sciences, public health, policy, or communications fields, the ideal candidate possesses strong writing skills, social media experience, design software proficiency (Canva/Adobe), and familiarity with content management systems. We seek collaborative, innovative thinkers with meticulous attention to detail who can commit to 35 hours weekly from June to August, with an option to extend the internship into the Fall.
The ideal candidate will have:
- This position is open to rising seniors at the undergraduate level and higher or students enrolled in a graduate program for social sciences, public health, health policy, government, public policy, communications, or related concentrations.
- Interest in health policy and communications required.
- Ability to speak, write, and edit succinctly and compellingly.
- Experience in managing social media platforms and creating content.
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe, or other design software.
- Familiarity with WordPress and experience with HubSpot, MailChimp, or other CRM platforms is a strong plus.
- Collaborative, innovative, eager to learn, and interested in how foundations create and implement strategies alongside partners.
- Ability to forge productive working relationships with managers and colleagues at all levels.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering clear and precise work.
- A portfolio of writing samples.
- Availability to work up to 37 hours weekly June through August, with an option to extend the internship into the Fall (flexible according to school calendars).
- In order to build productive relationships across the organization and to ensure effective collaboration, this role requires in-person presence in accordance with the organization’s hybrid schedule of working in the office three days per week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday).

Salary
We anticipate that the hourly for this position will be $17 to $18 per hour.
