About the Opportunity

The Center is looking for a Designer to join our Human-Centered Design Team. As part of a small, multi-disciplinary design team, the Designer work with teams across the organization, including executive leadership, Programs (grant-making), Monitoring, Evaluation and Research, and Communications. This is a full-time position located in New York, NY.

The role embodies a passionate, yet pragmatic designer who is curious to learn more about philanthropy (like grant making, internal operations) and finding the best ways to improve its impact in healthcare.

The main responsibilities of the job include:

  • Project manages deadlines and deliverables for the design team
  • Own the execution of designs and prototypes for projects to make the experience accessible, intuitive and meaningful to users
  • Support the facilitation of ideation, brainstorming and prioritization workshops
  • Support User Research activities such as designing research, recruiting users, conducting interviews, analyzing data and synthesizing learnings
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Present designs and supporting rationale
  • Provide guidance and coaching on visual communications skills

They are a quick learner, enthusiastic, creative, detail-oriented, intentional and collaborative—ready to roll up their sleeves and join a team that is bringing human-centered design to healthcare philanthropy.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Experience with an iterative design process and design thinking approaches
  • Experience with prototyping tools such as the Adobe suite, Sketch, InVision, etc.
  • Attention to detail and passionate problem solver with critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Resourceful and focused self-starter, comfortable with managing research and design efforts
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and confidence presenting to senior leadership
  • Experience in human-centered design and research processes and projects
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to think independently, strategically and creatively
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust to changing circumstances, while organizing time efficiently and remaining attentive to details
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, fluid environment

Professional Experience

  • Three (3) plus years of experience designing products, experience, or services
  • Bachelor's degree in design (e.g., Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Visual Design, Communications Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction, Information Systems)
  • Experience in U.S. healthcare is preferred, but not required

Salary and Benefits

We anticipate that the starting base salary range for this position will be $75,000 to $80,000, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer a generous benefits package designed to support employee health and well-being, including comprehensive health insurance, a substantial 401k match, paid time-off, a hybrid work schedule and other flexible work policies.
