Steven D. Pearson
Steven D. Pearson, MD, MSc is a Senior Advisor at the Peterson Center on Healthcare. He also continues to serve as an Advisor to the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), which he founded and led for over 17 years. Under Dr. Pearson’s leadership, ICER became widely acknowledged as the leading independent health technology assessment group in the United States. Dr. Pearson is also a member of the Board of Oxford Brain Diagnostics and an Advisor to CCX, a company providing digital tools to guide innovative market access agreements.
Dr. Pearson received his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and completed internal medicine and research fellowship training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Previously, he has served as a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Bioethics at the NIH, as Special Advisor on Technology and Coverage Policy at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and as the Vice Chair of the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MedCAC). His publications include over 200 peer-reviewed articles and commentaries on evidence, bioethics, and health care policy, and the book No Margin, No Mission: Health Care Organizations and the Quest for Ethical Excellence, published by Oxford University Press.
